Problem opening Display / xhost + not working

Hi!

I got a freshly installed Linux Box (Suse 9.2 prof.). When I try to open a window from a remote shell (sitting in front of new box doing a rlogin to another box...) I always get the error message "Can't open Display...".

Normally this tells me, I forgot to do a 'xhost +'. But I did that and I set my DISPLAY before I try. But nevertheless it doesn't work.

The problem ist definitively the new box, not the remote one, that is working fine with other boxes.

Any Ideas?

Thanks in advance, rot

Instead of rlogin try

Code:
ssh -X remote_host_ipaddress -l user_name_at_remote_host
Once you have given your password and logged in type in the application you want to launch.... And by the way DO NOT set DISPLAY variable. If you set it the application will not launch.

This is a change implemented for security in newer ssh versions/suse versions.

Thanks for your answer, but we definitly want to use rlogin/rsh.

I solved the problem by removing the -nolisten tcp flag in /etc/X11/xdm/Xservers that SuSE sets by default. After restarting the xserver xhost + works fine.
