Problem mplayer

hi,
I have installed mplayer in ubuntu, but it's not really working as it should. when I maximize the window, the video keeps the same size! In other words, to make it more clear, I get a full screen window with mplayer, but just a small part of it plays the video, the rest is just blank/black screen.

How can I fix it? Thanks

What video driver is it using ? It should be using xv or gl. Go into preferences and change it.

What video card and driver do you have ?

I have a GeForce 8600M GS, with nvidia drivers installed.

My video settings are now XV but that changes nothing. I have tried all video settings possible and none of them make the video goes full with the screen.

I have tried all possible options in preferences.
It happens with any video in Mplayer. My other video players goes full screen with no problems.
