Problem Installing VMware on Fedora 10

Hi I am pretty new to Linux so please keep responses as simple as possible.

I have the 64-bit version of Fedora 10 and have tried to install the 64-bit version of VMware using an RPM file. All seemed well but when I try to run VMware I get an error telling me that although the application is installed it has not been configured properly.

You are missing some packages. As root, do the following in a shell:
Code:
yum install libXrender libXtst zlib

Ok, I tried that and this was the result:

[root@localhost samael]# yum install libXrender libXtst zlib
Loaded plugins: refresh-packagekit
fedora | 2.8 kB 00:00
updates | 2.3 kB 00:00
Setting up Install Process
Parsing package install arguments
Package libXrender-0.9.4-3.fc9.x86_64 already installed and latest version
Package libXtst-1.0.3-3.fc9.x86_64 already installed and latest version
Package zlib-1.2.3-18.fc9.x86_64 already installed and latest version
Nothing to do
[root@localhost samael]#

The only difference I see in my own setup, is that I have both the x86_64 and i386 versions of those 3 libraries, while you apparently have just the 64 bit versions. Try installing the 32 bit versions:

Code:
yum install libXrender.i386 libXtst.i386 zlib.i386
It is possible that vmware-config is looking for the libraries in /usr/lib, and not /usr/lib64.

Update:
That seems to be the case - vmware-vmx is linked against 32 bit libraries:
Code:
[root@donkey ~]# ldd /usr/lib/vmware/bin/vmware-vmx
        linux-gate.so.1 =>  (0x0012d000)
        libm.so.6 => /lib/libm.so.6 (0x00150000)
        libdl.so.2 => /lib/libdl.so.2 (0x00179000)
        libpthread.so.0 => /lib/libpthread.so.0 (0x0017e000)
        libc.so.6 => /lib/libc.so.6 (0x00197000)
        /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0x00110000)
        libX11.so.6 => /usr/lib/libX11.so.6 (0x002f0000)
        libXtst.so.6 => /usr/lib/libXtst.so.6 (0x003ec000)
        libXext.so.6 => /usr/lib/libXext.so.6 (0x003f3000)
        libXrender.so.1 => /usr/lib/libXrender.so.1 (0x00403000)
        libz.so.1 => /lib/libz.so.1 (0x0040c000)
        libxcb-xlib.so.0 => /usr/lib/libxcb-xlib.so.0 (0x0041f000)
        libxcb.so.1 => /usr/lib/libxcb.so.1 (0x00421000)
        libXau.so.6 => /usr/lib/libXau.so.6 (0x0043e000)
        libXdmcp.so.6 => /usr/lib/libXdmcp.so.6 (0x00441000)
