Problem installing tls package for amsn
hi, im on fedora c4 and trying to get amsn 0.94 to work
installation went well until first run and tls (ssl) package installation required. ok, so i downloaded the package x86.tar.gz, unzip it and it has 3 files, an .so and 2 .tcl . i tought it would have a readme ou something on how to install, but only the 3 files are in it. i can still use it with disable ssl option on, but my objective is to get it fully working. ive found many alike posts in this forum, about exactly the same thing +- but none clearly answered. am i downloading the wrong package? fc4 i686 - is there a right packge available? |
I had problems installing the tls package aMsn downloaded with my x86_64. After some attempts I looked at the packages from Suse and found out tls is provided by Suse. Perhaps FC4 provides tls too.
|
nope, not with fc4, i hav full install.

Whenever I've installed amsn it's automatically downloaded tls and dumped it in the ~/.amsn_received directory, no further work needed.

Hey - I am also new to Linux and have also had problems getting TLS to work on FC4.
Has there been any solution to it. I'm not sure what bit rate I'm on but reading above I suspect its on 64. aMSN downloads the TLS and puts it into the amsn_received folder, but each time I log in, it continues to ask which TLS I would like to download. End of the story is I have to disable SSL to login - which evidently sends the password as text rather than being secure? Any solution to this problem? |
The solution I found with Suse 10.0 was installing tls from Suse packages. I can't imagine that the tls package is not availible for FC4 64 bit. The tls provided by amsn is for 32bit, so it won't work on 64bit
|
i hav 32bit athlon and it keeps asking me for tls every time :/
|
Seems like a bit of a mystery to me. Maybe a search for a TLS thingy whoosy whatsey in 64bit might be the answer? I don;t know enough abotu Linux to say what the problem actually is mind you!
