problem installing skype
I am running Ubuntu/Kubuntu 5.10.
I downloaded the skype debian package, but got following message
Quote:
pete@newCompaq:/tmp$ sudo dpkg -i skype_1.2.0.18-1_i386.deb
(Reading database ... 143708 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to replace skype 1.2.0.18-1 (using skype_1.2.0.18-1_i386.deb) ...
Unpacking replacement skype ...
dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of skype:
skype depends on libqt3c102-mt (>= 3:3.3.3.2); however:
Package libqt3c102-mt is not installed.
dpkg: error processing skype (--install):

I went to Adapt, the missing file not there.
Any help would be appreciated.

try
sudo apt-get install libqt3c102-mt
and try installing again. If it can't find libqt3c102-mt you'll have to track down where you can get it from. Try googling "debian libqt3c102-mt" and go from there.

I tried as you suggest and got
Quote:
pete@newCompaq:~$ sudo apt-get install libqt3c102-mt
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
Package libqt3c102-mt is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
However the following packages replace it:
libqt3-mt
W: Couldn't stat source package list http://security.ubuntu.com breezy-security/main Packages (/var/lib/apt/lists/security.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_breezy-security_main_binary-i386_Packages) - stat (2 No such file or directory)
W: Couldn't stat source package list http://security.ubuntu.com breezy-security/main Packages (/var/lib/apt/lists/security.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_breezy-security_main_binary-i386_Packages) - stat (2 No such file or directory)
W: You may want to run apt-get update to correct these problems
E: Package libqt3c102-mt has no installation candidate
