Problem installing Netscape 7.1 -

i'm trying to install netscape 7.1. i've unpacked the tarball, but when i go to run the installer ./netscape-installer i get "error while loading shared libraries: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory. I've tried to apt-get install glibc libgtk, et al., but either that's the wrong answer, or i don't know the correct package names. i've googled all morning, and i can't believe that i'm the only person who can't install netscape! the readme that comes with netscape says that it requires glibc, gtk+, xfree86, and Glib but i can't seem to apt-get these, either. what's really upsetting is that earlier in the week i installed a 2.2 kernel with windowsmaker and got the same error, but after i installed gnome there was no problem. like the packages came with gnome, or something. but i decided i wanted the bf24 kernel and wanted to use kde and now i've got the no libgtk problem again! does anyone have any ideas about this?
