problem installing Mandrake 9.2 from dvd

Installation problems, I am trying to install mandrake 9.2 from a dvd supplied with the "Complete Linux handbook". My problem is that Linux boots o.k but even though it recognises my mouse type the mouse does not work so I cannot make selections in the install screens. I am running Windows xp on my main drive and have an external 80gb hard drive to install Mandrake on. I am very new to this, any help would be much appreciated

Always use the latest, unless your hardware is 2 years older than the OS. Grab and burn, try again.
