All is good until I click install then I tried the noapic option as suggested by the software and it installed but now when I start up the following problem occurs
STARTING UP…
[ 31.869 160] .. MP-BIOS BUG: 8254 TIMER NOT CONNECTED TO I0-APIC
[ 32.048 161] KERNEL PANIC – NOT SYNCING: I0-APIC + TIMER DOSEN’T WORK! BOOT WITH APIC = DEBUG AND SEND A REPORT
THEN TRY BOOTING WITH THE `NOAPIC’ OPTION
Howe can I set it up to boot with the `noapic’ option
or is their an alternative way
I tried changes on my bios but I’m not to sure what I need to change
A similar error occurs when I try to install fedora 8 & xandros & suse

Very strange this. APIC is the sytem that handles interrupts, so sounds like a hardware problem, but I guess your Windows is working (? ).
Have you tried to boot with the live CD?
Adding options permanently is normally done in the /boot/grub/menu.lst file which means you have to boot with a CD and access your harddrive that way. In order to boot with the CD you might then have to enter noapic during boot of the CD.
If the CD boots without having to enter this noapic option, I would guess you have somehow installed the wrong kernel during installation...
