problem in setting Path variable for ns2.34 in ubunto 10.04

Hello

I run VMware on window xp . i installed Ubuntu 10.04 on it. Also i installed ns2.34 on it with Mannasim patch.

now I set the patch variable as follows
cd /etc
gedit ~/.bashrc

and add following line in bashrc
# LD_LIBRARY_PATH
OTCL_LIB=/home/r/ns-allinone-2.34/otcl-1.13
NS2_LIB=/home/r/ns-allinone-2.34/lib
X11_LIB=/usr/X11R6/lib
USR_LOCAL_LIB=/usr/local/lib
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:$OTCL_LIB:$NS2_LIB:$X11_LIB:$USR_LOCAL_LIB

# TCL_LIBRARY
TCL_LIB=/home/r/ns-allinone-2.34/tcl8.4.18/library
USR_LIB=/usr/lib
export TCL_LIBRARY=$TCL_LIB:$USR_LIB

# PATH
XGRAPH=/home/r/ns-allinone-2.34/bin:/home/r/ns-allinone-
2.34/tcl8.4.18/unix:/home/r/ns-allinone-2.34/tk8.4.18/unix

#the above two lines beginning from xgraph and ending with unix should come on the same line

NS=/home/r/ns-allinone-2.34/ns-2.34/
NAM=/home/r/ns-allinone-2.34/nam-1.14/
PATH=$PATH:$XGRAPH:$NS:$NAM

and then $ sudo su
# source /home/r/.bashrc

now when i open terminal it says
bash: 2.34/tcl8.4.18/unix:/home/r/ns-allinone-2.34/tk8.4.18/unix: No such file or directory
$

but when I type ns
% comes.
how to remove this.

plz reply

Thanks

"Setting Path variable for ns2.34" : Not required for Linux.
You can delete the text you added to ~/.bashrc .

The executable 'ns' is hard coded to find it's libraries.
The only problem appears if you move ns-allinone-2.34/ to another location.
Or rename "ns-allinone-2.34" to something else.

The proof way : cd ns-allinone-2.34/ns-2.34/
sudo cp ns /usr/local/bin/

And for nam : cd ns-allinone-2.34/nam-1.14/
sudo cp nam /usr/local/bin/ ( If 'nam' is usable.)

Thanks for your reply.
But I could not understand the proof way. what do you want to say? I should use these commands or not.

hello kundfi

My problem is solved .Thanks again.

I have not changed the name of ns folder , nor I have shifted it to some other location.

One more thing. In my PC I have both Win Xp and fedora 10. but my internet dongle work with Win xp only. It does not work with Fedora.

Name of my internet device is airtel 3G.
Huwai E1731

is there any way to solve this problem

just because of this I have to run Ubuntu on Win xp using Vmware.
Thanks again

# 3 .

Yes, that's the preferred way : Copy 'nam' and all 'ns***'
to /usr/local/bin/. Then all executable are in a system PATH.
No further settings.

And : You can have as many ns*** as you want in /usr/local/bin/.
( I'd usually have about 30 different named /usr/local/bin/ns** ).
/usr/local/bin/ ns ns-mannasim ns-lte ns-bgp ns-aqua ns-gpsr, etc. etc.

# 4.

Huawei E1731 3G usb modem : Should work OK in any contemporary Linux OS.

May be not Fedora 10.
But you can just replace it with the Fedora 12 based CentOS 6 i686
(or Fedora 18 i686).
No difference from Fedora 10, so far concerns ns2.
