problem in querying status of named

Hi guys!!!!!!!!
i am trying to configure a dns server on the local intranet of my college
i noticed a funny thing when i queried the status of named deamon by executing

[root@redhat1 ~]# service named status
rndc: no server specified and no default
[root@redhat1 ~]#

so what possibly can be the reason???

Another thing is that i have configured the zone file and all
the dns server works fine when i try to dig sites like yahoo.com, google .com etc. but when its time to dig or nslookup for local intranet computers, the server fails by replying can not find host followed by name of host

the two computers i am using to experiment are

192.168.1.3 redhat1.myintranet.net
192.168.1.4 centos.myintranet.net

here is my myintranet.net.db file

cat myintranet.net.db
$TTL 86400
@ IN SOA redhat1.myintranet.net. root.redhat1.myintranet.net. (
42 ; serial (d. adams)
3H ; refresh
15M ; retry
1W ; expiry
1D ) ; minimum

IN NS redhat1.myintranet.net.
redhat1 3600 IN A 192.168.1.3
centos IN A 192.168.1.4
www IN CNAME centos.myintranet.net.

You don't have rndc configured. Read this to see how you can do this.

Are you sure your server is authoritative for your intranet domain (myintranet.net) and it's not configured just as a caching dns?
