problem in istalling firefox 3


i have downloaded firefox 3 which is fireox-3.0.7.tar.bz2 file.then i copied the file to /usr/firefox3 n then from terminal i runthe command
tar -xjvf firefox-3.0.7.tar.bz2
and all files decompress into a folder firefox now what i should do to install it.

There is no need to install it, just run:
Code:
/usr/firefox3/firefox/firefox
to launch firefox

actually i dont want to run it from terminal .i want it to run icon on desktop but i cant find any icon on my deskton or in internet applications

You can use the package manager of your distro to install the firefox package, that will create the needed icons, shortcuts etc.

If you're using Gnome:
1) System>Preferences>Look_&_feel>Main_menu
2) Choose where do you want to have the FF icon
3) Press "New Item".

You can also add this icon to the panel.
RC on the panel > Add to panel > Application Luncher
