is it possible to install windows after installing linux(fedora 6).

After installing any linux version you are able to just install windows, do note that if you wish to dual boot you will either need to reinstall grub, or edit your boot.ini in windows to also show the linux partition.

As for your screen going blank, if you just let fedora start, does it work? And it only goes blank when attempting to install windows? The windows cd has worked before ?

Is that some version of xp? If it's xp, you can repair your mbr with your installation CD, enter "R" (for recovery?) in setup, select xp from list, enter password, enter FIXMBR, if that doesn't work enter "FIXBOOT". If that doesn't work try these sites for possible solutions:

Following is microsoft site: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314458

Another thing you could do is download the SuperGrubDisk, small download but should be able to fix your master boot record.

windows xp sp2 = windows xp service pack2. Anyways, his/her problem is not that windows won't boot, it's that windows won't install. I'd suggest trying another windows cd, and see it if does walk you through the hardware configuration.

If this cd also fails to pass the hardware configuration, then i'd suggest testing your hardware. You haven't done any hardware changes before going back to installing windows?

Was doing some googling on this problem and found a site with this:

Quote:

If you are trying to use the disk that came with your computer,
it is not legal to do so and it is probably locked to the computer
it came with by configuration and hardware.
Don't know how accurate that is as I've never used xp??
Another site suggested disabling acpi in BIOS.
Also might disconnect any extra hardware, printers scanners, usb devices...
How is your CD drive, try another CD as puntjuh suggested.
