Problem emulating Byond client on wine in Ubuntu

I am currently running Ubuntu 10.04 with the latest wine repository available.

Downloaded the byond client from http://www.byond.com/
and I am trying to run it with wine in order to play the game on linux (graphical version is only available for windows)

The program installs fine but when i attempt to run it it just closes, I get no error message or anything giving me a clue as to what is missing.
Could anyone help me with this, maybe try it out on ur end and give me aheads up on how to run it.

Instructions at winehq.com are outdated, they're for a previous version of this client

If you run WINE (or any other Linux program, for that matter) from the command line, you will see the error messages. They usually won't show up on screen otherwise.

In the case of BYOND, if you run it from the command line you will see:

Code:
rr:module:import_dll Library MFC42.DLL (which is needed by L"C:\\Program Files\\BYOND\\bin\\byondwin.dll") not found
err:module:import_dll Library byondwin.dll (which is needed by L"C:\\Program Files\\BYOND\\bin\\byond.exe") not found
err:module:import_dll Library MFC42.DLL (which is needed by L"C:\\Program Files\\BYOND\\bin\\byond.exe") not found
err:module:LdrInitializeThunk Main exe initialization for L"C:\\Program Files\\BYOND\\bin\\byond.exe" failed, status c0000135
A quick Google search tells us that MFC42.DLL is a library required by old style Windows GUI apps that are based on MFC. This is a fairly common issue, and is mentioned in the WINE Wiki. There are also a number of articles online about how to install it (and other Windows components) with the very popular "winetricks" script.

Installing MFC42.DLL through winetricks allowed me to get BYOND started, but I was unable to test any farther since it wanted me to login or create an account.

I love you man, I will go ahead and give that a try and let you know the results. Yeah they ask you to create a user and password on the main site, but if you got that far it usually means that you will get in. Thank you so much for your help, I'm pretty new at using linux overall as you could obviously tell. Thanks once more
