problem downloading w/ any browser

When I try to download any type of media file, no matter what browser i use, it streams it to me. or if i hold shift and clock the download link, it only saves a download.php file. All of this started happening when i installed wine, so i deleted everything that has to do with that, but it still tries to play the media file through the browser.

any thoughts?

What browser do you use? try disabling or unassociating the file with your browser under your browser settings.
