Question Problem copy GPX files from cell phone

Copying .txt or .jpg files goes OK, but files having extension .gpx fails.

I'm using my phone with TrekBuddy to contribute to Open Street Map and find it a bit awkward to use bluetooth or removing the memory card from the phone to use USB directly. So I've been struggling some time to solve this issue, without any luck.

Contents from my TrekBuddy directory on the memorycard on phone:

> ls -l
totalt 382
-rw-------. 1 dag dag 195409 2010-07-11 13:28 20100711-123727.gpx
-rw-------. 1 dag dag 195409 2010-07-11 13:28 20100711-123727.txt
These two files are identical, except from the extension. What I did was to attach the card directly to USB port and creating a copy of the .gpx file named .txt.

So when I tries to copy these files to my computer I get this error:

> cp -v 20100711-123727.* /tmp
20100711-123727.gpx -> /tmp/20100711-123727.gpx
cp: cannot open 20100711-123727.gpx for reading: Operasjonen er ikke stttet
20100711-123727.txt -> /tmp/20100711-123727.txt

> gvfs-copy 20100711-123727.* /tmp
Error copying file 20100711-123727.gpx: Feil under henting av fil: -6: Ikke stttet
The .txt copies ok, but the .gpx generates the error. This leads me to believe that it is a problem with the extension.

My phone is a SE C702 and the distros I've tried this on is Fedora 13 and Ubuntu 10.4. Ubuntu 9.10 without any updates copies the .gpx-files
ok. From googeling around this problem I found that formatting the memory card could solve a similar issue. This have been tested without success.

Any ideas on how to solve this is appreciated. Ideas on how to pinpoint what is broken is also appreciated.

A guess: if your phone's GPS is switched ON, maybe it prevent any access to the file it updates ?

Good idea, but unfortunately it didn't solve the issue.

Just tested it with some of the older files, no go. Likewise unable to copy right after a "hard reset" of the phone (battery out and in).
