I download the last version of pidgin (2.3.1) and I try to compile it, but get this error ( show the last lines of the compilation output):

/bin/sh ../../libtool --silent --tag=CC --mode=link gcc -g -O2 -march=i486 -mtune=i686 -export-dynamic -o nullclient nullclient.o -Wl,--export-dynamic -pthread -lgobject-2.0 -lgmodule-2.0 -ldl -lgthread-2.0 -lglib-2.0 -lxml2 -lz -lm ../../libpurple/libpurple.la -lnsl -lresolv
/usr/lib/gcc/i486-slackware-linux/3.4.6/../../../libz.so: undefined reference to `errno'
/usr/lib/libxml2.so: undefined reference to `gzrewind'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[4]: *** [nullclient] Error 1
make[4]: Leaving directory `/tmp/pidgin-2.3.1/libpurple/example'
make[3]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[3]: Leaving directory `/tmp/pidgin-2.3.1/libpurple'
make[2]: *** [all] Error 2
make[2]: Leaving directory `/tmp/pidgin-2.3.1/libpurple'
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/tmp/pidgin-2.3.1'

You probably need newer versions of libz and libxml2.
