Printing to pdf in Ubuntu Linux 9.04 is not working
Please help...printing to pdf in Ubuntu Linux 9.04 is not working. Please advise.

That's close to impossible - did you try printing (to file -> PDF; this also works) or the icon? I do this daily in 9.04, so it's hard to believe it doesn't work elsewhere.
Does everything else work as advertised? It's still possible that either the installation media or the package are faulty (did you try de-/reinstallation via Synaptic?). But if the former is the case, more stuff should fail. Could you please describe your problem a little more accurately? M. |
If this is a hp driver I had to get an updated hplips driver to get the hp printer to work right..

what exactly are you trying to do? if you are creating a document in OOo (openoffice.org) just click on the pdf icon and it will turn your document into a pdf for you automatically. no need to print it to pdf like in windows. |

Sound familiar? |
The point is that it's very improbable that PDF printing is not working - I never had to change *anything* in a newly installed system to a) be able to create PDFs from OOo or b) print to PDF (PS or PDF being an option in the standard print dialogue after I chose "Print to file") from any application.
A car that's not working doesn't, period (and I know exactly what you're talking about - I had that, not with cars, but with other gear, tech simply said "no failure found", returning it *unrepaired*, but at a cost). The case here's different: A feature that's present in freshly installed systems is claimed not to be - strange. It's possible, though (something might have gone wrong on installation) - that's why I asked for a more precise description of symptoms. M. |
