printing document comments on same page with text Libre/Open-Office

I'm having trouble finding an answer elsewhere so I brought my troubles here -- where the experts live...

I got a document from someone -- they used M$ Word(tm) so it was a DOC file. There were comments scattered through the text. When I view the document, the comments and text appear on one "page". When they print the document, they get one "page" where the comments look like call-outs or similar and appear along the margins.

I cannot get this one-page view printed with either LibreOffice or OpenOffice. Instead, the comments for page-N appear on the back (duplex) of page-N or as page-N+1.

Can anyone tell me how to get the one-page with text and comments onto paper using Libre/Open-Office?

Thanks in advance,

According to the LO help page, comments may be printed either at the end of the document or the end of the page.

When I selected created a test comment and selected "end of the page," they printed out on a second page. Moving the bottom margin up had not effect.

A bug report might be in order.

Yes, and both of these work:

End of Page Notes from page-N appear on the back of the sheet (duplex printing) or on the next sheet (simplex printing) or in the next "column" when printing 2-up.

End of Doc Notes appear starting on the first sheet following the last sheet of document content.

In both cases, comments have "Page-N, Line-M" annotations to help tie back into the content. Activating line numbers is helpful when reading such a page. Therefore, there is no bug to report.

However ... The same document, when printed with M$-Word, shows
the page content smaller and left on the sheet with the comments along the right edge
in a format not unlike a call-out or cartoon speech bubble.

It appears that LibreOffice and OpenOffice do not yet support this "call-out" style of comment printing.

Perhaps my reading is wrong, but I would interpret "end of page" to mean "end of this page," not "on a following page," with appropriate adjustments to text size and pagination occurring automagically.

That's just me.

You know what? That makes perfect sense AND that is what M$-Word does -- well, the comments appear along the right margin on the same sheet.
at-the-end-of-page is more of a "footnote" like presentation, but because of real footnotes, they appear on the "next sheet" or "sheet last plus one".
