Printer Problem with OpenOffice 2

This problem crept in probably when OpenOffice 2 went from late beta to final release.

I have a venerable Canon BJC4100 inkjet and use CUPS under Debian Unstable.

When I print from OpenOffice my jobs vanish into the unknown unless I do the following:

After File, Print I get a print dialogue box. I click on the properties button next to the printer name and get a box named "Properties of Canon". I select the "Device" tab and change the Postscript Level from "From Driver" to "1". Then my file will print.

I don't have this problem with other programs.

Is there a way I can get OOo to retain this Postscript Level setting? And does anybody know where my jobs are going? I have this mental picture of a massive job queue occupying acres of Disc space!

Thanks

I don't know what's causing the breakdown between OO.O and Cups. The missing jobs are probably in /var/spool/cups.

Missing jobs are not in /var/spool/cups.

Do you think it is a case of OOo and CUPS not communicating?
