I'm trying to set up my HP deskjet 970Cxi in slack9, but I couldnt do it work I took a look at linuxprinting.org but I have a poor english and then I didnt udersntand much in that page. I downloaded my printer PPD file. I dont know how to do it, because I already selected my printers name in Peripheralls >> Printers but when I click " Teste " it says me that a page will be printed, but nothing happens. What should I do?? Tnx a lot. :study: |
How is your printer connected to your box? I recently (due to a renewed spark of interest) got mine to work using the default aps drivers.
Although it does seem a little poorly documented at first, if you just dive in and attempt a config on it, you can start to test out options specific to your printer. The way to get started is: cd /usr/share/apsfilter and read some of the files around then, when you are ready: /usr/share/apsfilter/SETUP will start the setup of the program. Once you are done, you can test a page at the end, if you test something properly, you've got yourself a printer. Now to setup your applications to use it: In the print section of each application use this as your syntax: lpr -P printername Where printername is the name you chose during the apsfilter setup. There are plenty more options, and your application may need them, see man lpr for more info. Cool |
Its connected thru parallel port.
I d/l and installed ghostscript and hpijs but dunno how to go on... |
Try using the aspfilter first, if that doesn't work, then we'll move onto other things like cups.

I selected aspfilter but it wont print...
