Printer installation problem

Dear Linux friends,

something with my printer installation went wrong while installing SuSE 7.3.

When I now try to print a test page, I get error messages which are similar to what I get from lpstat:

Printer 'CA@localhost' - cannot open connection - Network is unreachable - Make sure LPD server is running on the server.

How can I make sure if LPD is running? If not, what do I do?

Sincerely yours,
Bernhard

maybe...

Well I was waiting for someone with knowledge of Suse to answer. I installed some version of it a couple of years back, for my daughter, but don't remember much about it. Anyway, see my question "hp deskjet 630c, Redhat 7.1
" a page or two back in the archives. drjimstuckinwin advised me about linuxconf. That's what the problem was. Under the control tab, control panel, active configuration, the fix was available to start lpd. I don't know if suse has such, but perhaps that will help. That's not to mention the little matter of having the cable hooked up...I hope you checked that first, like I should have.

Unhappy Any SuSE expert?

Hello, thanks for the hint.
Unfortunately, SuSE has no linuxconf.
What can I do?
I hope for a contact of someone using
SuSE.

Sincerely yours,
Bernhard
