Print Management

I am wondering if anyone is aware of any printer control software that will allow an administrator to control what jobs print in color. Basically, if a user prints to a color printer it will print the output in black & white unless that job is allowed to print in color. I found a company that does this but was extremely expensive,

There has to be an open alternative to this application. Trying to cut down printing costs that are related to color printing non-business jobs. Mapquest could be printed in black & white and doesn't need to be in color so being able to prevent these types of jobs would be great.

Just look for any advice or if someone could point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance.

I know CUPS can control at the device level whether it prints in color or not, but I don't think (I need to check more on this) it can set this by job. I sure would be nice, though. Unfortunately, since this is the default scheduler now on Linux and the free BSD's (as well as on several commercial unices), I wouldn't be able to help you on those others like the one you mentioned.
