print jobs not actually printing....?

Sorry 'bout this...I've just installed my USB Lexmark Z25 printer, as well as Cups. After a lot of poking around I finally got the printer set up and enabled, and it seems to be accepting jobs. However, nothing ever actually prints out...lpstat -t tells me that the printer is enabled, has a couple of jobs, and actually is printing the first one...
Looking at the online config. tool says that Cups is having problems actually connecting to the printer, and will retry every 30 seconds 'til something happens. I can't delete jobs, either, w/o it returning an error message to the effect that I'm totally incapacitated and cannot perform a config action (the exact wording I'm afraid I don't remember).
What can I do to get this actually printing??
