Presentation hangs sound files in.pps every 1.2 sec.
My sound cuts out every half second on tracks that have been placed within .pps docs that are sent to me. Is there a fix?

Re:
I don't know what simpress is. All I know is I received this .ppt from a windoze user, and for some reason, every half sec the sound goes in & out. I have these sound & video apps installed:
Gnome Player
Gzine
Movie Player
MPlayer
Rhythmbox Music Player
Sound Recorder
Which, if any, would cause conflict with OOo Presentation? Some of the .ppt's that I have work fine, but lately, all my downloaded .ppt's have the similar problem.
Thanks in advance JDKaye,
Jon N.

Hi Jon,
1. FYI, simpress is the openoffice equivalent to MS Powerpoint. It can play .pps files (usually).
2. I am not sure of the relevance of your list of media players. AFAIK openoffice will coexist with any of those media players.
3. Your problem with playing some ppt (pps?) files may have to do with which version of MS Office they were created with. It would help to know what version of Openoffice you are using.
cheers,
jdk

Yes, it does. I know that playing stuff from .pps files was an issue with Openoffice Impress in earlier versions. I'm not sure if they fixed it completely in OOo3. You might want to google it or try on openoffice forums/mailing lists to see if the problem has been resolved.
cheers,
jdk
