Prblm while playing mp3 or any other song-files in red hat linux-8.0
 

Hi Friends :) Am new linux-user...I haf gone thru d posts related xmms...I hav dwnlded n installed RPM...now if I click to play ne mp3 by xmms...am gettin d following msg... >>>

Couldn't open audio :-

Plz chk dat :-

1)U hv d correct o/p plugin selected ...

2)No other programs is blockin the soundcard ...

3)Ur soundcard is configured properly...


Can neone help me to solve dis out... ???

You need the mp3 plugin for xmms. You can get it from freshrpms.net. Make sure you download the correct file for your distrobution.

By the way, Red Hat 8.0 is quite old (more than five years). If your computer will run it, a newer distrobution (like Fedora) will give you much better service.
