PPTP-Problem connection from Win98 to Linux

i've got a problem with a win98 client connection to suse 7.3 pptp-server.
After a successful log the connection closes when anything is done over this connection with the following error message on the linux server:

GRE: read(fd=5,buffer=8055cc0,len=8260) from network failed: status = -1 error = Message too long

From win2k an winnt clients this connections works fine. The DUN-update to version 1.4 on the win98 client was done.

Has anybody an idea why this error occurs?

Many thanks for any help!
