pppd problems

I am using Mandriva 2006 and I am trying to set up a dailup connection to my iSP. I have installed the modem and the proper drivers for it. But when I set it up it all seems to work but I can't get any internet access. I keep getting this: interface ppp0: No such device. Any ideas?

Try this set up a new account under "Accounts" in that account open "Login Script"
Then try entering a script like the following (of course make the expects match what you ISP wants)

Expect name:
Send <My Login>
Expect Password:
Send <My Password>
Expect Pool>
Send ppp

Hope that helps

I have tried that script I read it of another website, but the modem seems to just hang at Expect:Pool> and then thats it. I don't get it using the other ways of doing like in the terminal everything connects fine but I still can't use the internet.

Ok I have fixed the problem, it was that I had shorewall running while using the dailup. I have to configure the shorewall for dial up and it should be fine. I use Telus Dail-up its just to test my conexant modem drivers.

Login Script:

Expect Login:
Send <Your Login Name>
Expect Password:
Send <Your Password>

And thats it
