Thank you for your help. I installed ppp using redhatrosh's link. I had already tried urpmi, and it couldn't find pppd. However, just for future reference, you can do:
The package is called ppp. I guess the d at the end of pppd stands for daemon.
Now, although pppd is installed, I'm not sure that it's working correctly. I'm not sure if I should put it here or start a new topic, but here it is, and just let me know if I need to start a new topic, please.
The new problem is that pppd is starting and then exiting immediately. Even with the "persist" option, it exits immediately and my Palm cannot connect. Here's what happens:
Code:
# pppd /dev/ttyS0 115200 192.168.0.102:192.168.0.105 netmask 255.255.255.0 persist passive noauth debug async 0
#
However, at this point, I still couldn't connect with my Palm (infrared, btw, but I had already used irdadump to test that the Palm and the Linux machine could communicate). I checked to see if it was loaded, and "service -s | grep pppd" didn't return anything display. "less /var/log/daemons/info | grep pppd" showed this:
Code:
# less /var/log/daemons/info | grep pppd

Again, thanks for your help in the installation, and any help with this new problem would be greatly appreciated.
EDIT: Never mind, the problem's solved. Well, mostly. It turns out that the port in the pppd script was wrong (/dev/ttyS0 should have been /dev/ircomm0). Anyway, there's nothing more to add to this topic, at least.
