ppp during Blender installation not done but rest installed. Any problem ??

I wanted to install Blender in my Linux Mint 15 and found the commands to type as,
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:irie/blender
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install blender

The first command to add repository didn't work saying the command sudo add-apt-repository not found. I went on with update and then installed blender using the third statement and its done. But will there be any problem later if the ppa isn't added ??

i would use the version from the blender web site
http://www.blender.org/download/
it is a self contained folder

no dependencies

most times using the package manager is BETTER
but there are ALWAYS exceptions
Blender is one of them

the current is 2.70a
