PPC Can't find Init!

I've got an Old World Beige G3 so I'm trying to use BootX to start installation of Mandrake 9.1 for PPC. The mac is running System 8.5.

I downloaded Bootx 1.1.3 and moved a ramdisk image and kernel to the system folder and named them vmlinux and ramdisk.image.gz. Next, I told BootX to use a ramdisk image, and when I boot the kernel, it does use the ramdisk as root(I think), but then it says "Kernel panic: No init found. Try passing init= option to kernel." even when I pass "init=/sbin/init" as an additional parameter. What gives? I even have tried different kernels and ramdisk images and the same thing each time.
