Postgresql 7.4.2 with Readline on Debian 3.0
Hi Folks
Got a problem installing Postgresql 7.4.2 from source with readline support on my debian machine.
When running ./configure the following error appears:
configure: error: readline library not found
If you have readline already installed, see config.log for details on the
failure. It is possible the compiler isn't looking in the proper directory.
Use --without-readline to disable readline support.
I've installed readline (well tried too) and it has put
libreadline.a
libreadline.so -> libreadline.so.5
libreadline.so.5 -> libreadline.so.5.0
libreadline.so.5.0
in the /usr/local/lib directory and has put
chardefs.h
history.h
keymaps.h
readline.h
rlconf.h
rlstdc.h
rltypedefs.h
tilde.h
in /usr/local/include/readline directory
Does anyone have some ideas? I know it isnt an essential part of postgresql but it makes my life a lot easier being able to press up to scroll through previous commands.
Thanks
