postgres install error

Hi there,
I was trying to install postgresql in my centos 7. I was following:https://www.postgresql.org/download/linux/redhat/
but whenever I try to start:
Quote:
bash-4.2$ postgresql-setup initdb
Initializing database ... OK

bash-4.2$ systemctl enable postgresql.service
bash-4.2$ systemctl start postgresql.service
Job for postgresql.service failed because the control process exited with error code. See "systemctl status postgresql.service" and "journalctl -xe" for details.
bash-4.2$ journalctl -xe
No journal files were found.
-- No entries --
bash-4.2$ systemctl status postgresql.service
● postgresql.service - PostgreSQL database server
Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/postgresql.service; enabled; vendor preset: disabled)
Active: failed (Result: exit-code) since Sat 2018-02-03 22:18:08 AST; 35s ago
Process: 24046 ExecStart=/usr/bin/pg_ctl start -D ${PGDATA} -s -o -p ${PGPORT} -w -t 300 (code=exited, status=1/FAILURE)
Process: 24036 ExecStartPre=/usr/bin/postgresql-check-db-dir ${PGDATA} (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS)
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance
Best regards
Zillur

Hi,

If you used the postgres repo to install the package, you need to add the version number in the commands used to initialize the database.
Follow the instructions here and see if it helps.
