Postgres could not find headers or libraries..

Good Morning!

I searched these forums and I searched the first 2 pages of google with no success,

I'm trying to install postgres.

this is where I'm at:

#gem install postgres
<snip>

Could not find PostgreSQL build environment (libraries & headers): Makefile not created

Gem files will remain installed in /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/postgres-0.7.9.2008.01.28 for inspection.
Results logged to /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/postgres-0.7.9.2008.01.28/ext/gem_make.out

Does anyone know the answer? 2 pts if u do! lol

You need to install the postgres development package. With yum you can run,

Code:
# yum install progres-devel

yum install progres-devel
Loaded plugins: refresh-packagekit
Setting up Install Process
Parsing package install arguments
No package progres-devel available.
Nothing to do

(and I did yum install postgres-devel too)

..thanks for the quick reply!
