Question Postfix disable logging?

Hey all,

I have a succesfull postfix setup running, with spamfiltering, antivirus and mysql-user authentication (and mysql-post delivery).

HOWEVER

My /var/log/debug-file is being 'spammed' with the following:

<date><server> postfix/smtpd[30066]: sql auxprop plugin using mysql engine
<date><server> postfix/smtpd[30081]: sql auxprop plugin using mysql engine
<date><server> postfix/smtpd[32128]: sql auxprop plugin using mysql engine
<date><server> postfix/smtpd[32144]: sql auxprop plugin using mysql engine
<date><server> postfix/smtpd[580]: sql auxprop plugin using mysql engine
<date><server> postfix/smtpd[596]: sql auxprop plugin using mysql engine
<date><server> postfix/smtpd[2100]: sql auxprop plugin using mysql engine
<date><server> postfix/smtpd[2114]: sql auxprop plugin using mysql engine
<date><server> postfix/smtpd[2756]: sql auxprop plugin using mysql engine
<date><server> postfix/smtpd[2772]: sql auxprop plugin using mysql engine

I haven't any debugging-tags switched on (that I am aware of). Does anyone have any idea how to get rid of these debugging lines? (yes I know they are harmless.....)

Thanks!!
Lennard

A general solution to this is to replace syslogd/klogd with syslog-ng, which has the ability to filter logs based on facility, priority, program, and message. For example, I get several megabytes' worth of failed ssh attempts into my server per week. To manage the clutter, I filter out all messages produced by sshd which do not contain the regexp "Accept" to a separate log file /var/log/ssh.failed.

Thanks :)

Thanks,

I already thought of something like this.

I could just filter out Debug mail messages. I however, just want Postfix (or whatever subsystem provides this warning) not to send the Debug messages at all.

Cheers!!

sql_verbose

I discovered, that the whole problem is in cyrus-sasl-2.1.23 and sql.c in plugins directory. Someone removed support for sql_verbose option from it, and because of it is still verbose and can't be turned off. I made a patch for adding sql_verbose option back to sql.c
