Porting driver to 2.6.9 kernel. Stuck with i2c not using /proc fs anymore

Trying to port a driver that uses i2c-proc.h etc. to kernel 2.6.9 where, apparently, i2c does not use /proc fs anymore.
Been searching for a while, but can't really understand what I need to do--what the equivalent is in the new kernel version.

A sample code of what I'm stuck on is this:

static ctl_table my_driver_dir_table_template[] = {
{0x8086,"addr",NULL,0,0644,NULL, &i2c_proc_real,
&i2c_sysctl_real, NULL, &my_driver_addr}
}

The i2c_proc_real(...) and i2c_sysctl_real(...) do not exist anymore...

Any ideas on how to port this?
Thanks a ton,
R

For this type of question, you are better of going to the linux kernel mailinglist I think.

How do I use the mailing list?...

As I'm very new at these things, I must ask:
how do I send something to the Linux kernel mailing list? How do I track it from then on? etc.
Sorry for the ignorance...
