Question port scanner and more

i know nmap is great
but i need a tool that can identify the script that uses a open port even if its hand made (perl scripts)
something like port_number ... script/service name
what other solutions do i have to find all the open ports on my workstation and the application or script at uses that port?

take a look at lsof.
