POP daemon server refusing connections
I have been having trouble lately with the Mailutils-POP3d (gnu-pop3d) daemon suddenly refusing connections on port 110. This began happening the day a heavy-traffic website switched over to us for hosting. Ordinarily we would start losing SMTP connections if processor and/or memory load got too high, but this seems to only be affecting the POP3 server at this point.

I haven't been able to find any kind of config file which would set the threshold levels for the POP3 server for loads, etc. I also don't see anything out of the ordinary in the logs other than a few APOP db errors, which have been appearing since we started using the server a few years ago.

Can anyone help me with this situation or send me in the right direction for reporting bugs about this issue? The only temporary fix I've been able to come up with is to have webmin check system status for port 110 and to run /etc/init.d/inetd restart if it does. This seems to fix the issue somewhat, but can probably cause a 30 second or so hiccup in the POP connections being made to the server.
