POP account : selectively delete a message on server?

Hello all,

Being currently migrating from OSX I have been used to macintosh's Powermail being able to selectively delete a given mail on its POP server while keeping it locally*, all of this from a single right-click.

At this moment on Ubuntu-Mate 16.04 I'm converging on Thunderbird, which covers all the (many) other features I need.

Is there such a possibility within Thunderbird?
Or does this exist in another email client?

Thank you!
Hervé

is there any particular reason why you don't use IMAP?

I use IMAP too, when connected. But I need to access my full email databases when offline, and quickly sort lots of messages (really lots).
My nightmare is a complex search request through a poor connection to a slow email server.
And my answer is, I handle my mail here, now, and fast. I'm sorry, but I won't change this when switching from mac to linux ;-)
I know some email clients do have caches for Imap (Powermail does this on mac), but by experience this is often bringing issues of its own, like terribly long reconciliations when you dare touch too many things...
