Polished Fonts

I'm currently running Mandriva 2010 & Fedora 12, both using Gnome, and between the two, Fedora always seems to have the more polish fonts look on my systems.

Does anyone know how I can get mdv-2010 to have that polish fonts look? Are there any Howtos, links or blogs on getting this done? I've read some sites on changing them but it still doesn't look as good as fedora.

I saw this site and to me the polish fonts, looks clearer & cleaner than the sharp fonts.

http://www.sharpfonts.com/

Thanks.

I don't have a mandriva system to test against at present but my initial guess would be that it doesn't have truetype support active and you would need to setup truetype fonts and install the ones you like on the system. There are a lot of tutorials for doing, and it should give you a place to start looking.

Yes I do have truetype fonts installed and have played around with it. It seems to look much better than the default look, but not as polish as Fedora. Next time I boot into Fedora I will check out it's xorg.conf file and see what is the difference. I have the liberation fonts installed also.

Thnx for the reply.

If you have the TT fonts installed and functional then you may be doing some kind of fullscreen aa or advanced effects from the windowmanager itself.
