What do: Pokerstars, Pokerroom, Ultimatebet, Paradise Poker, and many others have in common?
All are listed by other sites as having the abilty to play on Linux and Mac systems, however NONE have a download client aside from .exe. Many have online play, but as there are seperate columns for those, I can't see how that would be what they are counting.
So this is a search for poker CLIENTS available for Linux systems. Do you use one? If so which one?
So basically, none of them have a *nix client...But likely they all work with Wine. That is something, but I was hoping to avoid that. Maybe I will have to bite the bullet and use one of the java browser versions.
This is the article information I found about 888 and linux:
Quote:
Linux users were getting left in the dust and were getting frustrated as well until 888 Casino and Poker Room decided to open its doors to Linux casino gambling compatibility. To play the flash version which is Linux compatible users must use the Web Client Version under the related Casino or Poker title bar.
Linus Torvalds the creator of Linux had in mind to develop a system that was free to anyone who wanted to use the code. It seems Linux users like free things and now that Linux casino players have a free poker software they are feeling much better about their system.
Linux users can also play Texas Holdem at 888's poker room using the "Quick Play" or no download version.
The Linux compatible casino uses a flash version while the poker room uses a Java version. Both are suggested to use the no download software for ease of use.
Online casino gambling has taken off these last few years and it seems Linux casino gamblers will no longer be left in the dust. 888 casino is considered to be the largest and most trusted casino on the net. This happens to be a catch phrase they go by.
Mac poker is one of the more popular casino games right now and users play poker using the no download Java version as well.
And having checked their site, it would appear like the other "Linux Compatible" clients, they just mean you can use the java and/or flash ont he website.
