Pointer trouble in Cinepaint with wacom

My Wacom boards works perfectly, as does cinepaint. Though it seems to be very prone to crash randomly. The trouble is, when I have turned on the option to have the pointer turn to the shape and size of the tool in use, when I draw with a mouse, everything is all right.
But when I draw on my wacom boradr, the cursor flickers back and forth between the normal arrow pointer and the little circle it should look like. it doesn't do any actual damage or anything, but it looks distracting.
And no, I do not wish to draw with my mouse!
The wacom's mouse also works properly, it's only with the stylus.
Do I have to just live with this, or has someone else this problem and a workaround?
