Point2Play

What exactly does point2play do? I have Cedega and all, so what will point2play do for me? I didn't really see a review of it.

cedega vS Point2play

as i understand it...

cedega is cli and p2play is a gui - both help make windoze games run/install
on linux. codeweavers who produce crossover office - the latter specialise in getting windoze office and other windoze proGGies to run/install under linux.

lately both cedega (transgaming) and crossover office have started to overlap
each other, meaning each are trying to specialise in games and office s/ware
integration.

so unless you have a mad game that refuses to run/install - cedega is enough
similarly - crossover office for office s/wares.

hit back an let me know whaat the s/ware was your trying to install and on what
distro etc etc.

re: playing doom3 on linux

I'm not sure how to run doom, but the point2Play proggie has a subscription fee, where they promised to
help get most modern games to run under linux, perhaps you could check their website
www.transgaming.net or som-ting.

if you have cedega try using that first, then according to to errors notices you get frrom running it
do a google search on them until you can get some solid to query user in here with.

I belive cedega /point2play can run doom3 and a load mo' windoze gaming s/ware.

the answer out there - also look for linux doom3 gamers/ forums etc until you can nail down
the precise problem

let me know what turns up.

ps: i have the windoize version of doom3, and i have read som' where that one could get an linux installer then copy your doom3.pak files 1-4 to a desired subdirectory and the linux installer will
use the pak files and allow you to use the game.
