Plugin problems...im confused
Get this message when trying to open any type of mpeg apps:
Plugin: No appropriate application for type video/mpeg found
I went to "about: plugins" and everything is installed and enabled. I checked the previous threads on this topic and downloaded a few other java/flash plugins...but those seemed to give me the same errors. Another thing, my sister goes to this website...www.bonus.com. to play the games on there.....I don't know exactly what is at fault here...but whenever I play the game...it'll load the applet and the sounds just fine...but it lags like crazy....the frames start shifting....and everything gets distorted.. This does not happen in windows so I was wondering if anyone can assist me with these problems. Thanks.

So is Mozilla my problem? Do I need to switch browsers and try this again or..? Because all of the plugins seem to be recognized and enabled...so im confused...
Uhh I think you would find that the consensus around here would be that IE is the problem, at least with your game room stuff. Probably a lot of active control-type addins that will only work in Internet Exploder.
As for the plugin problems, try a search here at LQ for "Mozilla plugins" and you should find a healthy pile of resources to point you in the right direction.

Hmm....I tried reinstalling...and it keeps telling me that I have an invalid installation path...however, the directory that i'm installing to exists...what was I doing wrong here?....But, the good news is that I took the advice on another thread and copied the libflashplayer.so file into the mozilla plugins directory and it seems to be working.. Just to mess with it, I took that file out of the plugins directory...and it still works...so i'm not exactly sure what fixed it. If anyone can let me know what the deal with the installation path was...I'd appreciate it...thanks.

Flashplayer seems to be working fine, some java applets are a little faulty as i said in an earlier post, but no video/mpeg file seems to be working..I'm gonna keep searching around here to see if I can dig up anything else on the previous posts. Thanks for any help.

The Plugger 4.0 plugin that I have supposedly supports video/mpeg, but I went ahead and downloaded and installed mplayer and the plugin for it....however....I'm getting the same message that some other people got..."MPlayer plugin - loading movie'... it never actually loads and plays. One of the guys on the other forums suggested to download some "fonts packages" from the mplayer website...so I'm gonna do that now...however....if anyone has any other suggestions...feel free to share. Thanks.

The mplayerplug-in.so file is in my mozilla plugins directory....is there anything else besides this that I need? Whenever I try to play a movie clip, it says "mplayer loading"..but nothing ever happens.
Nope, if you are getting the mplayer loading, then the plugin is working, you need to make sure mplayer is now. Check out some of the thousands of threads on getting mplayer working, but mainly make sure you have the win32 codecs installed.
