Plug-ins for Netscape 7.1 and RH

I'm trying to configure a Red Hat 9.0 machine for a non-technical user who just wants web-browsing and e-mail. I'd like to work it out myself but am running out of time.

I've installed Netscape 7.1 to get a browser with a pop-up stopper which works fine. I finally got the sound working on this Dell 450 PII and can play MP3s, etc with XMMS. The problem is I can't get Netscape plug-ins configured right to be able to play audio, etc embedded in websites.

I've downloaded Realplayer for Linux and added it to the Helper Apps but it still won't play RA files. Same with MP3 and XMMS. Thinking I must be missing something I found references to PLUGGER and downloaded it but can't get the "make linux" to work.

I'd really appreciate simple step-by-step help on getting this to work. I find most linux sites take it for granted you know which files should go into specific directories, etc and I need a little more specific instructions until I get the linux landscape figured out. I know "it ain't windows" but some help files written for newbies would really help some of us make the transition easier. So far I love Linux but it shouldn't be this hard to just get audio off a website! Thanks in advance,

Bob Nickels
