Unhappy Please help my idea about the virtual network disk:)

Hi:
I am learning the distributed file system.
I have an idea that we can collect some PC's free disk space to form a
local virtual disk driver which can tolerate some faults.
I have studied some distributed file system including GFS,AFS,Coda. As a result I found some file system is valuable to help me to implement the idea. For example,Petal,Frangipani,Zebra. However,I cann't find the file systems' code.I think the systems are commercial softwares. Of couse,I want the expert to point my error and guide me to find available code.
I expect someone can give some suggestion about the idea.
Where I can get some important information?
How can I develop it?
Is there available prototype or source code?

hehe
Thanks in advance!!
