You don't need to install as root, install as user.

Code:
tar -xvzf ZendStudio-5_5_0.tar.gz
Code:
./ZendStudio-5_5_0.bin
follow the instructions on the screen
It will tell you where it will put the files
eq

Code:
/home/user/ZendStudio-5.5.0/
to launch the program type

Code:
/home/user/ZendStudio-5.5.0/Zend_Development_Environment

Do you have java installed?
Perhaps your java version isn't compatible.
I would suggest to take a look at the homepage for a solution
I installed it here to test, and it works correctly.
