please help me someone

i am trying using php to access data from MySQL.

the output i am getting is

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: mysql_connect() in /var/www/html/new/script1.php on line 5

the file is as follows;

$username = "me";
$password = "you";
$hostname = "localhost";
$dbh = mysql_connect($hostname, $username, $password) or die("Unable to connect to MySQL");
print "Connected to MySQL<br>";
// you're going to do lots more here soon

Dude, I can't help you but I have found if you post a quick summary of what you're asking as your Post Subject instead of "please help me someone" you will get a better response. How about "PHP data access error from MySQL"?
