Question Please... help me install my driver for a Siig UltraATA 133 PCI IDE controller card.

I am running Mandrake 10.0 Official and am trying to install a driver for a Siig Ultra ATA/IDE/ATAPI 133 controller card.

My current running kernel is 2.6.

As far as I can tell, this is the only version of the driver available and is supposed to work for all Linux distributions.

The driver name is atp865.tar.

the ONLY direction the websitehas given me is:

1) Download and extract atp965.tar in Linux
2) Replace with these source code files
3) Recompile kernel
4) Use the embedded RAID software in Linux to support RAID functions (for UltraATA RAID only)
5) For new installation of Linux, specify a third party SCSI or IDE driver and copy the source code files. You might need to perform a custom installation.

So far I have only downloaded the file to a folder.

Please tell me how to go about doing step 1-5...I don't want to make a mistake, especially when I recompile the kernel!

Do these direction apply for Mandrake, with the kernel I am using?

Ok, so far I have sucessfully extracted the archive using the

tar -xvf atp865.tar

It has extracted the files into root/Desktop/Downloads/siig

Now how do I proceed with step 2? What does it mean to 'replace with these source code files'?

What am I supposed to replace? And with what files?

The files in the target directory are:
aec62xx.c atp865.tar ide-dma.c ide-pci.c pci.ids pci_ids.h

What in the world am I supposed to do now?
