Please help identify a linux ISP connection package.

I installed Debian sarge 3.1 a week or two ago. I stumbled across a package that I liked very much that made modem connection to my ISP very straight-forward and simple to use. It initially presented about a 3" x 4" window with, among other things, a 'connect' button. When clicked on the opening window was immediately replaced with a smaller window with the message 'waiting for confirmation'. The word used was not confirmation but something close to that. When the ISP sent the signal waited for the window was immediately replaced with another window with 'connected' displayed. A timer was also displayed which monitored the time connected. I hope this is familiar enough for an ID.

A diligent search has not turned this up in the main menu and the synaptic manager has not liked any of my guesses. Before I became better acquainted with the distribution I had needlessly downloaded a lot of stuff from the internet. The package I found could have come from this effort. Unfortunately, I had to reinstall sarge and the original installation was lost. rm
