Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

Please help - Can't get selection cursor to show up in Konqueror...
This will probably come across as a very trivial problem, and I'm sure the solution is most likely something very obvious, but I've tried everything I can think of (including resetting all of the Appearance options under KControl and Konqueror's options to their default settings), and it's become absolutely maddening when I'm trying to select a large number of non-adjacent files/folders.
When using the tree view mode, as I press <Up> and <Down> on the keyboard, I can't see where the cursor is (not the mouse cursor, but the selection cursor, if that's what it's called-- the dotted outline that should appear around the file or folder that it's currently "hovering" over). (Sorry, I'm not sure if I'm explaining this well.) When I press <Space>, I can tell where it is because the selected file/folder becomes highlighted.
Any help at all with this would be greatly appreciated. I really like Konqueror, but this issue pretty much shatters its usability for me. I hate the thought of using a different file manager just because I can't fix what's probably a very simple problem.
